“I was always a terrible student. If I loved a subject, I got A’s and B+s; if I didn’t, I’d get a C-.”
-D.A.M. Juntado, Creator of Curio + Musings
I am by day, juggling being an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology & Behavioral Sciences at De La Salle University Manila and a researcher in political culture and in heritage studies. By night, I am a caffeinated owl who believes in thinking as a hobby.
The spirit of Curio + Musings was 11 years in the making. I grew up with educational entertainment as a significant part of my childhood. Back in third year of undergrad, I repurposed Powerpoint Presentations to create mock GUIs (interactive slides). Then I started running and hosting in my first year of academe, a few in-class Let’s Plays of American Mcgee’s Alice, facilitating thought-provoking discussions through Molleindustria, and my love for Newgrounds.
Curio + Musings is all about encouraging people to reflect on the connections between the significance of the humanities and social sciences with reflective citizenship and ‘thinking critically’ as a habit. It presses us to ask how we understand ‘thinking’, ‘when’ and ‘how’ we think, and most importantly to realize — we are entertained, we are amused — because we think.
Stay curious. Be amused.
